Hiroshima City Asa Zoological Park is a delightful and educational destination for animal lovers and families alike. Spanning over 50 acres, this well-maintained zoo is home to more than 160 species of animals, making it one of the most diverse zoological parks in the region.

Since its opening in 1971, Asa Zoological Park has been dedicated to providing visitors with the opportunity to see and learn about animals from around the world in a safe and engaging environment. From majestic African elephants and energetic chimpanzees to the native species of Japan, the zoo offers a wide range of exhibits that are both informative and entertaining.

One of the park's standout features is its commitment to conservation and animal welfare. The zoo participates in various breeding programs aimed at preserving endangered species and educates the public about the importance of biodiversity and habitat protection.

Asa Zoological Park also includes interactive areas where visitors can have closer encounters with some animals, such as feeding experiences and petting zones. These hands-on activities are especially popular among younger visitors, making the zoo a favourite family outing.

Traveler reviews

It’s really nice zoo, it wasn’t crowded on the weekday in October. I really liked it. Drawback was I get that they close the bird exhibit because of concerned about the spread of flu, but the entire western animal exhibit which is like half the animals was off-limits and it was closed so really kind of put a damper on things. On the plus side you were able to at least be able to see like the the tiger and the lion but everything else off-limits. But on the other negative said they also got the trail closed off so you can’t see the zebras or the giraffes either. So it’s like a lot of the big draws. You really just can’t see any of which is really disappointing. I mean it’s not like I can’t see zebras or draft back national zoo in DC but still… That said despite it’s really out of a way location the cost of emission is a really good value. And a lot of the animals are very easy to see. You don’t have too much glass obstructing views or fading views. It’s a pretty open zoo. Overall, I would definitely recommend it and come back here.

Highly recommend. Wide parking lot(come earlier than the opening time so you can park near the entrance), lots of animals, cheap tickets. There's a picnic area so you can bring your own food.
Lovely place! Unfortunately, when I went, the red panda route was closed off (because of a bear?? Haha) but it was a lovely experience and all the animals looked lovely!
Diverse zoo. lots of food and drinks scattered around. Some enclosures are fantastic size giving lots of room for the animals, except a couple for example the Tiger. Cheap entry with a long walk around the big zoo. Nice restaurants inside the zoo too. Has lockers for 100-200¥
If you have a baby they have a rental stroller for only 350yen. And wheel chairs for adults. .And please always have a alcohol in your pocket for sanitized. its a long walk at the same time u got exercise while enjoying. . we buy a ticket good for 1 year for only 1500yen. Anytime we can go there 😊😊😊 dont forget to wear facemask for safety❤️
