What other travelers are saying about Horikoshi Shrine
Visited Horikoshi Jinja 堀越神社 and had an amazing experience! The shrine has a peaceful atmosphere and beautiful architecture. I loved exploring the serene gardens and learning about the shrine's rich history. It's definitely a must-visit if you're in the area!
Horikoshi Shrine is located in Tennoji Ward, Osaka, Japan, near Shitennoji Temple. The shrine is easily accessible by taking the Osaka Metro to Shitennoji-mae Yuhigaoka Station (Tanimachi Line) or Tennoji Station, then walking about 5-10 minutes to reach this historic Shinto shrine.
Horikoshi Shrine is open daily from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM with free admission. Visitors can explore the shrine grounds, pray at the main hall, and participate in traditional Shinto rituals without any entrance fee, making it an accessible cultural experience in Osaka.
Horikoshi Shrine is famous for being one of Osaka's oldest shrines, founded over 1,400 years ago, and is known for academic success prayers and business prosperity blessings. Visitors can see traditional shrine architecture, beautiful seasonal decorations, omamori charms, and participate in traditional Japanese shrine rituals.
The best time to visit Horikoshi Shrine is during spring (March-May) for cherry blossoms, autumn (September-November) for fall colors, and during New Year (January 1-3) for Hatsumode celebrations. Early morning visits offer peaceful shrine experiences with fewer crowds and better photo opportunities.
Horikoshi Shrine hosts several annual festivals including the Spring Festival in April, Summer Festival in July, and special New Year ceremonies. The shrine also celebrates traditional Japanese holidays like Shichi-Go-San in November and offers seasonal prayer ceremonies for students, families, and business success throughout the year.
A medium-sized shrine with a lot of Torii as well. If you are sick of Fushimi Inari Taisha being too crowded, this place offers a lineup of mini Torii gates where you can take a nice photo, too. It is very cosy, peaceful, and not crowded at all, and the most important thing is that there is No Entrance Fee. 10/10 👏👏👏
Early October I came here and met some kind lady who told me how to pray in this jinja.
She's wearing white.
Thank you, if you read this, i'm sorry I forgot to give you a proper thank you. Wish you a great life ahead.
Just a quick stop at this shrine. So peaceful here. There are many Japanese people come here to pray. They always pay respect to this shrine when they pass by.
"Mom, I want Fushimi Inari Taisha."
"We have Fushimi Inari Taisha at home."
Fuhsimi Inari Taisha at home:
Jokes aside, it is a nice peaceful shrine which has, as the joke and pictures suggest, quite a few torii gates.
