What other travelers are saying about Ikoma Sanjo Amusement Park
I am only interested in theme park rides that are super fast and scary. This theme park has none of that. My wife is the opposite. She likes it slow and cute. So this park was built for grown up kids like her. But really it's only for little kids.
Driving here from downtown Osaka took us around 45mins+. There is a toll charge on the last mountainous section, and parking isn't free. To get to the park entrance from the carpark, we could either take an inclined train, or climb a long flight of stairs. As it was very cold, we chose the train and paid for return ticket.
If you're an adult who's chaperoning kids here, and you have no interest whatsoever in any of the rides, good news. All rides and experiences charge separate fees. So you could be watching the child and not have to pay anything else the whole time. I suppose the theme park operator was kind enough to realize that most adults aren't it's target customers.
My wife saw the pedal cycle ride on social media and she just had to try it. And so we did. It had a nice view of Osaka but it was a very short loop though. If you want the night view of glittering Osaka, then you'll have to come during summer when the park opens till late.
If I rated this park from my perspective, I wouldn't be fair to it. So I'm rating this from a little child's perspective. If I were a kid again, I think this would be a fun place for an afternoon.
The famous sunset on the self-paddle ride.
Do check on the time of the sunset is taking place. The ride is less the a 8min depending on your needs of that particular picture that you are aiming for.
If you are looking to spending more time taking an other rides, it is recommended to get the 3500 yen ticket booklet, allowing you to take on more rides as well. We get this for our sunset ride as we need to take 2 times of the same ride for taking sunset view.
Highly recommend - free entry
Just pay for themed cable car 🚠 to get up there and back. Best views of osaka out to kansai airport and kyoto - restaurant is good and prices are fair. Best to buy 12pack of tickets for rides from vending machines 3500yen otherwise rides vary from 300-600 ea so tickets are best value, also loads of coin games and old school stuff- fun for kids and adults
The park was a bit small, and it was raining on that day so I couldn't get a nice photo, but it was a nice experience. I would recommend getting the 3500 yen ticket that gives you 12 rides and can shared with your friends/family. The cable to the park was cute as well.
Well, well, well, an outstanding minor local amusement park on top of a mountain. Reached by cable car, which is fun enough in itself. Rides and attractions have to be paid for separately, in the old school style. Best to visit when the place is closed, when you can still walk around inside and photograph the retro attractions. All the empty park is missing is an old man shaking his fist at kids and yelling “Don’t mess with forces you don’t understand!”
Yes, entry to the park is completely free. However, you need to purchase tickets for individual rides or buy an unlimited ride pass to enjoy the attractions. The cable car ride to reach the park requires a separate fare.
Take the Kintetsu Railway to Ikoma Station, which is about 20 minutes from either Osaka Namba Station or Kintetsu Nara Station. From Ikoma Station, walk three minutes to Toriimae Station and board the Ikoma Cable Car. You'll need to transfer at Hozanji Station to the Sanjo Line. The entire cable car journey takes approximately 15 to 16 minutes to reach Ikoma Sanjo Station at the summit.
The park typically closes every Thursday. Additionally, it enters winter closure from early December to mid-March each year. It's recommended to check the official schedule before planning your visit, especially during the winter months.
Yes, visitors are welcome to bring their own food and drinks for a picnic-style experience at the park. There's also an on-site restaurant, the Ikomayama View Restaurant, which offers meals with terrace seating and panoramic views of the Osaka Plain.
