What other travelers are saying about Kobe Animal Kingdom
While it's true there were at least a few cases of animal pacing (bear, mountain lion but not the tiger, wolf, seal), it's hard to really say if that's due to scarring from past conditions or not, because I dont speak Japanese so I cant ask. Like the Izu zoo, a lot of these animals have a main enclosure that is for the public to get good pictures, and they have a different one they're moved to at different times. Without talking to the staff to find out the full story I feel like a lot of the one star reviews can be discarded entirely. They're pretty much worthless, just amateur zoologists repeating things they read in a Wikipedia article to sound smart.
As for everything else, I found the spaces more than adequate, I didnt notice any of the birds tied down, that I saw. For these animals it's just an ideal life of eating and sleeping, and the staff are very kind and active, stopping kids from banging on glass and the like.
Food is good, although get the burger over the chicken sandwich.
It was a good experience. I've been to a few awful zoos that made me depressed, and this was not one of them. As far as I can tell this is one of the good ones, so I'll give it five stars. If only to help drown out the Karen's rating it one because they think all animals should be free yet go to zoos anyway. Great location too.
Best zoo I have ever been to. Perfect for adventure and fun! There’s a wide variety of animals, and most of the animals are rare and exclusive, though there’s no wait time. The animals are very active and sleep in view most times. Not too busy compared to other zoos, and food is great! The perfect place to go as a family on holiday.
Truly enjoyed my visit as I managed to catch most of the animals up close. I purchased the tickets on KKDay, and there was no queue upon entry! The open, (majority) indoor greenhouse (has air-conditioning!) concept which allows most animals to roam freely within each compounds makes the visit unique and interactive especially from young children. There are also many pet feeding sessions and shows available, which I recommend checking the schedules in advance. All in all, I would recommend a trip to the zoo for a short, half-day trip which is easily accessible from Sannomiya station (via Port Liner service), which is 15 min away from city centre
My family and I have all enjoyed our time at the Kobe Animal Kingdom. It has variety of animals displayed with great atmosphere especially the natural feeling provided by the decorated plants in the surrounding. Interaction with Capybara and the birds show were the highly of my visit. Be prepared to wait in the queue for a bit of time if you wish to see baby hippopotamus or feed the rabbit or play with the puppies. Kobe Animal Kingdom is a great place I highly recommended.
