What other travelers are saying about Koganei Park
This place is really beautiful in the spring because there’s a wide area to visit and see sakura in here. Such a stunning place I have been. This park has a large parking area for a fair price.
I visited this park by renting a bicycle by Hello Cycle. It is a huge park. There were many families pitching a tent for a picnic at the lawn. There was a museum about traditional buildings, but I didn't have time to drop by.
There are plenty of nice spots to have a picnic here especially during the spring. There are several types of cherry trees in the park, including those that bloom later in the season. I love biking over and lying on the thick green grass once spring comes. A few short bikes trails as well.
Koganei Park is the perfect place for anyone who fancies flowers, wide open spaces, a leisurely stroll, or even a bit of history. Its proximity to downtown Tokyo makes it a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.
I visited this park today for hanami with some good friends. It's about a 30 to 35-minute bike ride away from where I live (Higashikurume), but it is also easily accessible via train or bus.
Koganei Park features spacious grassy areas, which serve as a perfect spot for picnic and games. A children's playground complete with various amenities (swings, slides, small zip-lines, sledding hill, etc.) are also available, which are sure to entice kids and kids-at-heart alike. And of course, the famous sakura trees in full bloom elevate the place into a captivating view. There are sakura trees in most parts of the park, but they are mostly concentrated on the left and right sides facing the museum.
Benches, public washrooms, and a snack house with vending machines are also available, so you surely have everything you will ever need for fun and comfort if ever you get to visit.
The park is a must-see in any season of the year, but it shouldn't be missed when the sakura are in full bloom at the peak of spring!⁸
Really nice and wide park!
There are places for kids to play, places for dogs to run and places for barbecue! We went for Hanami and were not disappointed. ☺️
Yes. Dogs must be leashed except in the fenced dog run area, which has separate sections for small and large dogs. Owners must clean up waste using provided disposal stations. Dogs are banned from inside museum buildings but allowed on museum grounds if leashed.
Late March to early April for cherry blossoms from 1,700 trees, though this period is crowded. Autumn offers comfortable temperatures and fall colors with fewer visitors. Summer has shade but high humidity. Winter is quietest with clear views of museum architecture.
Baseball fields, tennis courts, archery range, and athletic fields require advance reservation and usage fees through park management. Equipment is not provided. Courts book quickly on weekends.
Yes. Multiple lots accommodate approximately 700 vehicles. Hourly fees range from ¥100-300 depending on location and day. Lots fill during cherry blossom season and weekends. Bicycle parking is free.
Take the JR Chuo Line to Musashi-Koganei Station, then walk 15 minutes north. Alternatively, use Higashi-Koganei Station and take a direct bus to the park entrance. Buses run regularly from both stations. Hanakoganei Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line requires a longer walk.
