What other travelers are saying about Mishima Skywalk
Mishima Skywalk is a popular spot and it definitely gets crowded, so expect lots of people around. The area has plenty of cafés and restaurants where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere. The view of Mt. Fuji is truly spectacular on a clear day, and there are several activities and rides available, making it possible to spend an entire day here if you want to. Parking is also abundant, so you won’t struggle to find a spot.
However, the Skywalk itself didn’t meet my expectations. I assumed it would have a glass-bottom walkway where you could look straight down, but instead it’s mostly metal, which was a bit disappointing. As for the Mt. Fuji view—while beautiful—you can enjoy similar views from many other locations in the region.
Overall, if Mishima Skywalk is already on your list, it’s worth checking out. But if you decide to skip it, you’re not missing anything essential.
Early morning during winter months from November to February provides the clearest visibility. Summer months have significantly more haze and cloud cover. Weather conditions change rapidly, so checking forecasts beforehand is recommended.
The bridge has high safety railings and meets Japanese engineering standards. Transparent grating sections reveal the 70-meter drop to the valley below. Visitors can avoid these by walking on the solid decking in the center of the 1.6-meter-wide walkway. The bridge closes during severe weather.
Small pets must remain in carriers or cages. Dogs are allowed on leashes under close control. Service animals have no restrictions. No pet care services are available on-site.
Multiple restaurants and cafés serve Shizuoka specialties including wasabi dishes, seafood, and green tea desserts. A food court and sit-down restaurant are available. Outside food is permitted in designated rest areas but prohibited on the bridge.
Most visits take one to two hours including the bridge crossing, photos, and exploring gardens and shops. Zipline or climbing activities require an additional hour. Peak season waiting times may add 30 minutes or more. Bridge-only visits take under an hour with light crowds.
Mishima Skywalk is a memorable experience thanks to its unique combination of natural beauty, engineering, and access to outdoor fun. As Japan’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge (400 m long), it offers spectacular vistas: on a clear day you can see Mount Fuji, Suruga Bay, and the Izu-area mountains all at once.
Walking across the bridge is thrilling yet accessible — the footpath is wide enough for visitors to move comfortably, and viewing decks give nice vantage points for photos or to simply soak in the scenery.
Beyond the bridge, there are plenty of extra attractions: a café and restaurant, a “Sky Garden” shop, and a forest-adventure area with activities like zip-lining, tree-top courses, and forest walks — ideal if you want more than just a stroll.
On the downside, the place can become quite crowded, especially during weekends or holidays. The crowds slightly reduce the sense of calm and sometimes make the walk and photo-spots feel busy.
Overall, Mishima Skywalk delivers a mix of awe-inspiring views, excitement, and accessibility, but with a bit of crowding during peak times. If you choose a clear day and arrive somewhat early (or later in the afternoon), it’s a very rewarding stop.

It was a cloudy day so we did not get to see Mt Fuji, but nonetheless this is a great spot for great scenery. There are also zipline activities if you don't feel like walking over the bridge.
The Skywalk cut across a valley below. From the Skywalk bridge can get very good view of the Mishima city. Entrance ticket for adult is 1100yen. Does not include the zip line or adventure courses inside the park. There are buggy ride, e-bike ride and Segway ride as well. The adventure course is 3900 yen which includes the zip line. The zip line alone is 2000yen. The adventure course is quite fun to teenagers. Zip line over the valley was very fun. Doing the zip line after the adventure course seems to make you less scare of the height. There are 3 food stalls with vegan option.
