A short hike to the ropeway station from Arimaonsen. Scenic view of Kobe and north facing Arimaonsen and much more. Sunset is gorgeous when it's clear. Not much else at the top since it's winter and cold. Few restaurants were open. 1600 yen roundtrip.
The highest peak of Mount Rokko, Rokkō-Saikōhō, stands at 931 meters (3,054 feet) above sea level.
Main attractions include the Rokko Garden Terrace, Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden, Rokko Snow Park, and the Rokko International Music Box Museum.
Visitors can reach Mount Rokko via the Rokko Cable Car from Rokko Cable Shita Station or by taking the Rokko Arima Ropeway, which connects Mount Rokko with the Arima Onsen area.
Activities include hiking, skiing and snowboarding in winter, golfing, and enjoying panoramic views from various observation points.
The best times to visit are during the spring for cherry blossoms, summer for cooler temperatures and hiking, autumn for vibrant foliage, and winter for snow sports.
Been up it twice now and cant recommend it enough. Its such a beautiful hike for all levels of hikers.
What I Like a lot ist that it has lots of Terrain and scenery changes that never make it boring. Its also a great challenge If you want to do it as quick as possible. The mountain only really hast one popular viewspot so Take than Info consideration.
There is a hut to eat with great food at the top but they only Take Cash, so Take Care.
For those still reading, my time was 2:07 from the omoto station or whatever it was called. For those seeking a Challenge, Go for it ;)
A wonderful, less traveled series of hikes and shops at the top of a mountain in Kobe! Went on a weekday in April and it was empty. All shops open, but no tourists or locals. Wonderful, and easy to get around by bus once up there.
A less commercial sightseeing experience compared to Mount Fuji or Hakone. Very chilly and windy but an enjoyable experience. Cable car was unfortunately under renovation when we visited so there was a shuttle bus service (1100yen round trip) instead that goes up to the observatory. You need to take another bus (380yen one way) up to the ropeway station. The ropeway was 1850yen for a round trip. It was crowded when taking the ropeway to the top but very quiet when going back down.
Do check the weather forecast unlike me. Took the tram up because it was foggy and drizzling. Then decided to take the bus to R07 Garden Terrace. Proceeded to hike up via road to this summit. 40minutes one way.
There are also trails leading to the summit, but they start and end on the paved road.
