4.5 (9061)Tourist AttractionPlace Of WorshipPoint Of InterestEstablishment

The Musashi Ichinomiya Hikawa Shrine in Saitama has a history of over 2,400 years. This makes it one of the oldest shrines in Japan. The shrine is dedicated to the deity Susanoo-no-Mikoto, known for his bravery and control over storms. Hikawa Shrine is famous for its peaceful atmosphere and spacious grounds, and its beautiful red bridge over the pond is a popular spot for relaxation and reflection.

Visitors often take part in traditional Shinto practices such as purification rituals or prayers for good luck and health. Many festivals are held at the shrine throughout the year, including New Year’s events and the Reitaisai in May, where people come to enjoy music, dance, food, and more.

The path leading to the shrine is lined with tall, ancient trees that add to its sacred atmosphere. It is a popular destination for both locals and tourists who want to experience Japan’s spiritual culture and history. If you are in Saitama, Hikawa Shrine—with its deep historical roots and beautiful surroundings—is definitely worth a visit.

This is a historic shrine set in a beautiful park with water features, ducks, koi and turtles. The sense of peace and tranquility fills you as soon as you enter. We happened upon it by accident, walking back from the Bonzai Village. It was so beautiful, and we enjoyed playing our respects at the temples inside, as well as veiring the gardens and wildlife. The koi were especially friendly. There are signs warning not to feed them. Thought the park, there is a children's playground, and a zoo as well. We returned the next day to visit the zoo.

We walked from Omiya Station to Musashi Ichinomiya Hikawa Jinja. The autumn leaves What a beautiful we took a small stop at the Manju shop. We had finished our Goshuincho and had to purchase a new one. The shrine is beautiful with lots of things to see. There is a park nearby and we enjoyed the sight of the Ginko threes turning yellow.
