What other travelers are saying about Myogi Sky Park
I was treated to a tandem paragliding experience.
We were blessed with good weather, and although it was a short time, it was a wonderful experience.
The instructors were all very kind, so I was able to fly with confidence.
I'd like to visit again.
I went paragliding for the first time in my life.
Watching other people flying up close,
I was worried if I could do it myself,
but I mustered up my courage and took to the sky.
The fee was 6,500 yen including insurance,
and you can fly two or three times after that for an additional fee.
Even first-timers can feel at ease as an instructor will be following behind them.
In my case, it was my first time paragliding,
so I wasn't able to quite glide through the sky,
but it was so exciting that I want to try again.
The instructors were cheerful and upbeat, making it a place where even first-time flyers can feel at ease.
This is a paragliding area where the scenery from takeoff and while flying is amazing. There are also lessons and experiences for beginners.
Perhaps it was the wind on the day we visited, or that they had no reservations because it was a weekday, or perhaps it was a closed day?
There was no sign of anyone beyond the closed gate.
I've tried paragliding before, but it was a tandem. I'd like to fly on my own one day.
The tandem skydiving experience in Okegawa, Saitama Prefecture also has a weight limit. You can't fly unless you lose weight to 90kg.
I wonder if there is a weight limit at Myogi Sky Park.
I recently made a reservation for your paragliding experience.
I made a reservation by phone in early April for three people on a Saturday in mid-May. However, about a week before the experience, I received a message saying:
This is XX from Myogi Sky Park.
Regarding your recent reservation for May △.
Currently, we can only secure pilots on Sundays and holidays, so please reconsider the date.
Also, we have improved our website, so please make reservations through there. (Original text)
I received this message via SMS.
At this point, I felt a slight sense of incongruity with the message, but due to our circumstances, we were unable to change the date, so we decided to cancel.
Also, when I called to explain my desire to postpone (cancel), I was only told, "Oh, I see. I understand."
It would be one thing if the cancellation was due to force majeure such as bad weather, but even though the cancellation was 100% their fault, they didn't even offer a single apology, even a simple "I'm sorry" or "We apologize for the inconvenience."
To be honest, I found this extremely frustrating.
Because my job doesn't allow me to have weekends off, I applied for paid leave more than a month in advance and coordinated my schedule with my colleagues. (I had already made other plans to accommodate this experience.)
I am very disappointed that no apology was offered on the spot, even if it was just a formality.
I am in no way seeking compensation or concessions for the cancellation.
I understand that it may be difficult to secure staff after the reopening and that you may be unfamiliar with the operation, but I would like you to be mindful of the minimum level of courtesy as an operator.
- To those planning to make a reservation:
If you are making a reservation online in the future, I strongly recommend double-checking by phone to make sure that you can actually make a reservation for that date.
Autumn from mid-October to early November is the most popular period for fall foliage. Spring through early summer offers clear weather for mountain views. The park operates year-round, but the Myogi Skyline toll road may close temporarily during heavy snowfall in winter.
Public buses from Matsuida Station run seasonally to the Myogi mountain area but do not go directly to the Sky Park and operate infrequently. Taxis are available from Matsuida Station but are expensive. A rental car is the most practical option for reaching the park.
The park has paved walkways and accessible observation areas suitable for all ages and mobility levels. However, the surrounding mountain hiking trails range from moderate to difficult, with some routes involving steep climbs and exposed rock sections requiring experience and proper equipment.
Admission to the park is free. The Myogi Skyline toll road charges approximately 3,000 yen per vehicle. Additional costs include meals at the restaurant and optional purchases.
Mount Fuji is visible on clear days, most reliably during winter months. Early morning typically offers the best visibility before afternoon haze. Viewing depends entirely on weather and atmospheric conditions.
