These photos were taken on April 19th. The shidare sakura were already past peak but the place was still beautiful and I had a nice walk. There were just a few people about and the town was clean and quiet. I imagine it was probably a lot livelier during peak season. I feel regretful not checking out the place earlier. Will definitely put this on my calendar for next year.
Flowers were in full bloom when we visited on 13Apr. There are so many people gathering for watching sakura.
Kitakata is located in the north of Aizu-wakamatsu and is well known as a sacred place for ramen. Additionally, the weeping cherry blossom is beautiful in the spring. When I visited, the cherry blossoms were almost falling. Still, there were lots of people, and the place was still beautiful.
The cherry blossoms are not fully in bloom yet; most of them are still buds. Only a few trees have bloomed completely. I think it would be even more beautiful if they all blossomed at the same time.

The cherry blossoms closest to the station is about 50-70% in bloom. As you walk farther north still majority with buds. Probably 5-7 days later will be better. Still quite beautiful.
