What other travelers are saying about Omoto Park

If you are feeling up to it, there is a trail out the back of the park that leads you up the mountain "Misen mountain climbing course Omoto route". It's about 2 hours (maybe more/less), it's mostly stone steps and is a slog so a half decent amount of fitness or walking experience is required. But if you have the will power and the time, it's well worth the effort. It eventually takes you to Mt Misen observatory peak but with a couple of extra vantage points that the cable car crowd won't get to see (be sure to climb Komagabashi peak). The Okohuin Temple is more steps down and back up so it you have had enough at this point give it a miss I've put some pics of the temple below. You must do the observatory the views from here are stunning, this is where the cable car users will mostly be heading. You can then get the cable car back down for 200 Yen. It's still a bit of trek to the cable car but mostly down hill.

Probably my favourite park in miyajima. It's very quiet and peaceful with deer that are wild and keep to themselves. Lots of sitting areas to chill out, read, cool down etc.
Beautiful Park at the bottom of our climb. Deer are prevalent.
A peaceful park surrounded by nature, offering a relaxing atmosphere away from the crowds. The walking trails are pleasant, and there are nice spots to sit and enjoy the scenery. A good place for a quiet break or a short walk, especially during cherry blossom season. Worth a visit if you're nearby.
Extremely beautiful and quiet with bridges and woodland, streams and waterfalls blossom etc. Didn't meet anyone else except for the deer eating all the blossom. Highly recommend making this relatively short walk from the main tourist area.
