What other travelers are saying about Rankoshi Town Exchange Promotion Center Yuki Chichibu
Fantastic small onsen with a range of baths at different temperatures.
The onsen has a restaurant, gift.shop, tatami mat relaxation area as well as the bath house. The bath house is in the basement and can be reached by elevator.
The bath house consists of the changing room, the indoor bath and washing area and the outdoor baths. There are 3 different outdoor baths, all at slightly different temperatures. The hottest is the bed bath and is a great finish to a soak.
Well worth the ¥700 entrance fee. No tattoos.
One of my favorite onsens in Hokkaido. Very sulfuric waters that leave your skin feeling super smooth. Spacious outdoor baths and they limit the number of occupants now so can enjoy without too many other people. Highly recommended. Also grab one of the ice cream bars made with local milk.
Really cool local onsen. This was a recommendation from a Japanese ski guide. Great to see the local culture and such a restorative experience. Definitely a sulfur smell - but part of the experience! Photo is of the hot spring just outside the onsen.
This was the first onsen I ever went to when I first moved to Japan, I think it's very unique and have been going on and off for years. Recently I came back and saw there's signs everywhere saying 'no tattoos'. I'm not for sure what has changed but now I can no longer use the onsen. It's a shame because I did like the mud bath and outdoor bath area.
Actually my favorite onsen around Niseko. It has 2 outside baths(rotenburo) with a nice and open sky view. The water is not too hot so it's a good place to take your time and relax! Really a sulfur onsen so pretty smelly which is good! There is a restaurant too.The facility has been renovated recently so everything is clean as well.
The facility operates from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with last entry at 8:00 PM. The onsen is closed every Tuesday and on some other specific dates throughout the year. During winter season, opening hours may vary with the facility sometimes opening from noon rather than morning.
The entrance fee is ¥700 for adults and ¥300 for children aged 6 to 12 years old. A book of 10 tickets is available for ¥5,000, providing savings for regular visitors. Visitors who purchase tickets on the 26th of each month, designated as Bath Day, receive one free bath. The facility operates on a cash-only basis.
The onsen is not tattoo-friendly, but visitors can purchase tattoo cover stickers for ¥300 if their tattoos can be completely covered. The stickers are available for purchase at the facility and are suitable only for small tattoos that can be fully concealed. Visitors with larger tattoos should contact the facility in advance to confirm whether entry will be permitted with coverage.
The facility provides shampoo, conditioner, and body soap in the shower areas, along with free use of the rest room. Hair dryers are available in the changing areas. Small valuables can be stored in lockers near the reception area for a refundable ¥100 coin deposit. The complex includes a restaurant serving Japanese meals such as soba and curry, a shop selling souvenirs and local produce, and a tatami mat rest area where guests can relax with views of the surrounding landscape. Note that there are no lockers in the changing rooms themselves.
The facility is located on Highway 66 in Rankoshi Town, approximately 30 minutes by car from the Hirafu ski area. From Sapporo Station, take the JR train to Konbu Station via Otaru Station, which takes about two and a half hours and costs ¥2,100 one way. From Konbu Station, it's approximately a 30-minute taxi ride to the onsen. The location is not easily accessible by public transportation, particularly in winter, so most visitors arrive by private car or taxi.
