Visitors to Sagiike Pond can expect to see a variety of bird species, particularly herons and ducks. The pond is also home to koi fish and other aquatic life, making it a vibrant ecosystem.
Sagiike Pond is beautiful throughout the year, but it is especially picturesque during the cherry blossom season in spring and the autumn leaf season when the surrounding trees turn vibrant colors.
Sagiike Pond is within walking distance from major train stations in Nara, such as Kintetsu Nara Station and JR Nara Station. Visitors can also take a bus or taxi to Nara Park and then walk to the pond.
Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks, bird watching, and photography. The pond's peaceful setting also makes it a perfect spot for picnicking and relaxation amidst nature.

Beautiful place. Serene atmosphere, naturistic and breathtaking. Deer come to you sometimes. Walking in this scenic beauty is really mesmerizing.
Today, on December 30, 2023, I explored tranquil surroundings that would have been idyllic if the cherry trees weren't nearly bare, with only their branches visible. This place resembles a paradise, especially during spring and cherry blossom seasons, with deer adding to the serene ambiance. Unfortunately, around 90% of the area seems to be closed, long holidays in Japan starts Dec 28 - Jan 3.
Nice pond, but in winter time it doesn’t have the right atmosphere.
It worths if you walk along the path to reach the pavilion
Always come by here for a relaxing break from the more busy areas nearby. Sitting out on the lake is a peaceful experience.
A calm and serene pond in the middle of the Nara Park district! Really beautiful!
