The shrine hosts several festivals throughout the year, including the Shizuoka Sengen Shrine Grand Festival in April, which features traditional rituals, performances, and a lively atmosphere.
While some areas of the shrine may be challenging due to steps and uneven paths, the main areas are accessible, and the shrine staff is accommodating to visitors with special needs.

Shizuoka Sengen Shrine is a beautiful and impressive shrine complex in Shizuoka.
The architecture is rich in detail, with vibrant colors and multiple buildings spread across a peaceful area. Walking through the grounds feels calm and immersive, with a strong sense of tradition and history.
It’s a lovely place to take your time, explore, and enjoy a quieter spiritual atmosphere away from the busiest tourist spots.
Shizuoka Sengen Shrine (静岡浅間神社) is an extraordinary cultural gem with over 12 centuries of history. Steeped in Shinto tradition, this beautifully preserved shrine complex offers visitors a window into Japan’s rich past. The intricate architecture, vibrant vermillion colors, and sacred atmosphere make it a must-visit for anyone exploring Shizuoka.
One of the shrine’s most fascinating aspects is its connection to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the legendary shogun. During his time residing at nearby Sumpu Castle, Ieyasu would come here to worship, making it a historically significant location. The shrine’s peaceful ambiance, combined with its deep historical ties, makes it not just a religious site but a living museum of Japan’s heritage.

Nice and big Shrine! I think I was the only foreign tourist there during Hatsumode.
One of my favorite places to go and take time to think. There's an abundance of places if you truly take time to look around. I recommend climbing all the way to the top of the mountain. The view is beautiful.
