Very clean, easy to navigate. We did some shopping here. Got a few things we were looking for. This station is a big interchange for trains and ropeway within freepass area.
We stop here for our resort Gora Hanaougi, that has a private elevator direct to venue.
Great views of Mt Fuji when clear. Can get very crowded but lines move. Cost is expensive compared to value of just seeing vents/sulphur and overpriced tourist snacks. Definitely a once and done experience.
Sōunzan Station is a calm and efficient transition point between the Hakone Tozan Cable Car and the Ropeway, and it feels like a natural pause before the scenery becomes more dramatic. The station is clean, compact, and easy to navigate, with staff guiding visitors smoothly between platforms. Even during steady foot traffic, the atmosphere stays relaxed, and the surrounding mountain air gives the place a refreshing feel.
While it’s not a major attraction on its own, Sōunzan Station works well as a starting or ending point for exploring the higher elevations of Hakone. The views from the outdoor areas are surprisingly nice, especially on clear days, and the layout makes transfers quick. It earns a 4 out of 5 for convenience, cleanliness, and the gentle mountain ambiance.
visited Sōunzan Station in Hakone as a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids), and the experience was fantastic.
The station is the starting point of the Hakone Ropeway, and everything was smooth and well organized. Staff were polite and helpful, and boarding was easy even with children.
The ride itself was scenic and memorable, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys. The kids loved the excitement of the ropeway, while we enjoyed the peaceful journey and stunning landscapes.
The station facilities were clean and convenient, making the overall experience stress-free.
Overall, Sōunzan Station provided a wonderful gateway to the Hakone Ropeway adventure. Highly recommended for families and travelers looking for a unique and enjoyable experience in Hakone.
We were at this station after taking the funicular train from Gora Station. We got on board the cable car which goes up to the Hakone area. The view is scenic and we could see the volcano with sulphur mines from the cable car.
