Strawberry Fields Chikushino Strawberry Farm stands as the largest strawberry farm on mainland Kyushu, offering visitors an authentic agricultural experience in Fukuoka Prefecture. The farm is managed by Mr. Ishibashi, who uses years of experience to cultivate several strawberry varieties with different growth seasons, enabling an extended picking season for guests. His meticulous approach includes counting the number of available strawberries by hand every Friday morning to determine weekend reservation capacity, ensuring adequate fruit availability for all visitors.

The farm features 23 greenhouses where strawberries are grown using raised cultivation methods, allowing guests to pick fruit while standing comfortably without bending. The farm offers multiple strawberry varieties including Kaorino, Sagahonoka, Benihoppe, Koiminori, Star Night, Kannahime, and Mikunoka. The facility welcomes families with wheelchair and stroller-accessible pathways throughout the greenhouses. In addition to strawberries, the farm offers blueberry picking from early July to late August.

Visitors enjoy 40-minute all-you-can-eat sessions where they can pick and sample strawberries directly from the plants. The farm provides scissors and collection bags for the picking experience. An on-site café serves freshly made desserts, cakes, and gelato prepared with strawberries harvested directly from the greenhouses. Guests can also participate in jam-making workshops to create their own strawberry preserves. The facility includes a gift shop selling strawberry-based products and fresh fruit for purchase.

The strawberry picking season runs from mid-November through late May, with the farm closed on Mondays except when Monday falls on a public holiday. Advance reservations are required and can be made through the farm's website or by telephone. Admission fees vary by season: from November 16 to April 6, prices are ¥2,800 for adults, ¥1,900 for elementary students, and ¥1,600 for children over three years old. Rates decrease in late spring as the season concludes. The farm accepts cash and PayPay for payment.

Located at 1278 Chikushi, Chikushino City, the farm sits along Prefectural Route 582, approximately 20 kilometers from Fukuoka City. Visitors arriving by public transportation can take the Nishitetsu train to Chikushino Station, then board a local bus toward Kamiyama and disembark at the Chikushi stop, followed by a ten-minute walk to the farm. Parking is available on-site for those traveling by car.

Traveler reviews

A place where you pay a price to pick as many strawberries and eat them on the go. Lots of greenhouses where you get to choose lots of strawberries. Despite being May almost end of the strawberry season, we could still find lots of strawberries and they were quite big too. Majority of the strawberries were sweet and juicy! I was really full by the end of the 40 minutes session. There is a cafe there that serves strawberry related dishes like ice cream or cake. It wasnt crowded when we went. In fact there were noone else during my session at one of the greenhouses. Be sure to reserve a spot so the owner knows when you are coming and not miss out if it gets fully booked.

There are so many greenhouses to pick strawberries from, and the experience is truly enjoyable—it makes you feel like a child again. The strawberries are so sweet that you don’t even need condensed milk, and the price is reasonable at 300 yen per 100 grams. The long walk from the train station is scenic, and there’s also a restaurant across the street called PIZZA 伊勢吉窯.

I think this place is convenient to reserve just clicked to their website and you will receive the confirmation. When you arrived, go check at their office to get the tickets then you can enjoy the fields. For me at arrived beginning of May, mostly they are small and some are sweet some are not. However, I still found the big and sweet one. I visited on the rainy day, it’s still okay.

Although having visited Japan so many times plus my bucket list is to cover all the province in Japan travel, there is one thing that I always have wanted to try which is to visit a strawberry farm and try out strawberry plucking, you really can’t get anything fresher than that. So I made it a point to check out this strawberry farm since it is not far from the ryokan that I stayed. It cost JPY2500 per pax if you opt for 40 mins unlimited eat all you can or you can also go for plucking and packing up by weight which is at a very affordable price. So in comparison, you get a pack from them is Jpy650 yen while going to get from a supermarket is around Jpy800 and above depending on the grade but the experience is worth the price we paid too. There are 4 flavours in season so we got to visit and try out all. First you book on their website and then head to the vending machine to get a ticket on the spot and they will pass you a pair of scissors, a plastic bag and tell you to visit any of the 4 greenhouse they have. You will need to snip at the end of the stem near the strawberry and can eat on the spot without washing or you can pluck as much as you can eat and then bring it to the many seatings they have to wash and enjoy it. I asked the lady which is her recommendation and which greenhouse is the best to explore and it was right, may perfectly ripen strawberry awaits and also the types of strawberries really taste distinctly different as well, our favorite is Kaorino, so sweet and juicy and perfect looking just like how you see from a website or magazine! After eating there is washing area to wash your hands and also segregate the plastic bags, scissors and left over strawberry stems, so clean and systematic, love seeing the kids enjoying themselves too. And if you want to try out some wonderful cakes and pastries that use their strawberries, do hop over to across the road, there is this cafe Sucre Fraise. I have reviewed on it too. :)
