When you arrived, go check at their office to get the tickets then you can enjoy the fields.
For me at arrived beginning of May, mostly they are small and some are sweet some are not. However, I still found the big and sweet one.
I visited on the rainy day, it’s still okay.
Had a wonderful time picking strawberries and eating them. They give you a bag and scissors to gently snip off the strawberries. The strawberry were juicy and so yummy and sweet. 3 different kinds of strawberry to choose from. Good times and they even have a gift shop too with desserts and goodies. Go check em out and make a reservation!!
Although having visited Japan so many times plus my bucket list is to cover all the province in Japan travel, there is one thing that I always have wanted to try which is to visit a strawberry farm and try out strawberry plucking, you really can’t get anything fresher than that.
So I made it a point to check out this strawberry farm since it is not far from the ryokan that I stayed.
It cost JPY2500 per pax if you opt for 40 mins unlimited eat all you can or you can also go for plucking and packing up by weight which is at a very affordable price. So in comparison, you get a pack from them is Jpy650 yen while going to get from a supermarket is around Jpy800 and above depending on the grade but the experience is worth the price we paid too.
There are 4 flavours in season so we got to visit and try out all.
First you book on their website and then head to the vending machine to get a ticket on the spot and they will pass you a pair of scissors, a plastic bag and tell you to visit any of the 4 greenhouse they have. You will need to snip at the end of the stem near the strawberry and can eat on the spot without washing or you can pluck as much as you can eat and then bring it to the many seatings they have to wash and enjoy it.
I asked the lady which is her recommendation and which greenhouse is the best to explore and it was right, may perfectly ripen strawberry awaits and also the types of strawberries really taste distinctly different as well, our favorite is Kaorino, so sweet and juicy and perfect looking just like how you see from a website or magazine!
After eating there is washing area to wash your hands and also segregate the plastic bags, scissors and left over strawberry stems, so clean and systematic, love seeing the kids enjoying themselves too.
And if you want to try out some wonderful cakes and pastries that use their strawberries, do hop over to across the road, there is this cafe Sucre Fraise. I have reviewed on it too. :)
Good place to visit on country side of Japan. They have 30 mins of picking seasoned Strawberry and eat them. (Really sweet and nice!)
although be mindful that when you bring them back home (if you are from abroad) there is a chance that even if you put them in refrigerator they will still degrade, so better consume them early as possible.
The staffs are nice and can speak simple English. It is very close to Tenji in compare to other farms in Fukuoka, in just around 30 minutes drives. I did visit it before I visit Dazaifu, which is less than 30 minutes drives from this farm. There are many kinds of Strawberry although it was already the season end of strawberry. You may pay for (JPY 1,200 @ May) for a 40 minutes all you can eat, as well as additional JPY 500 for take away (30 minutes). There is also a strawberry dessert restaurant across the street. Highly recommended if you are looking for a farm not too far from the city with reasonable price.
