I really enjoyed this small, free, very modern looking museum.
Displays of the different types of animals that can be found on Mount Takao. Cases filled with different insects. A short video presentation on the hour.
One small stamp at the entryway.
Such an amazing project of education, art, design and understanding of nature.
The museum is lovely and absolutely a must. It’s very close to the station so I suggest to visit as soon as you arrive.
Museum products are also beautiful and well curated. If you check the schedule they also organize many events and lectures.
After the hiking, I stopped by the Museum for coffee with a great view. It is a free admission, a lot of exhibits about nature of Mt. Takao here. I would recommend to make a stop here while you visiting Takao 😊
Great information and insights about the nature and insect/animal lives on Mount Takao before or after your hike. Exhibits are beautifully presented and the space is nicely illuminated with ample sunlight entering the space. There is a cozy cafe inside the museum with great coffee.
Air conditioning is comfortable and there are seats around for you to just take a rest.

The show combines taxidermied animals with projection mapping to create an immersive experience of the mountain's forest environment throughout different seasons.
