We had a great time at Yomiuriland! It has a very local atmosphere, which made the experience feel more authentic and relaxed compared to other major theme parks.
One of the best things was that we didn’t have to wait in long lines, so we could enjoy many rides throughout the day. The rides were exciting and thrilling, with plenty of adrenaline-pumping attractions.
If you’re looking for a fun amusement park with shorter queues and great rides, Yomiuriland is definitely worth a visit!
A visit to Yomiuri Land is a charming and surprisingly relaxed amusement park experience just outside Tokyo. The park is relatively small and sweet, making it a great half-day or full-day trip, especially considering it is only about 60 minutes by train from central Tokyo.
The easiest way to get there is by taking the Keio Line to Keiō-yomiuri-land Station. From the station, one of the highlights already begins: a scenic cable car ride up to the park. The round-trip fare is around 500 yen, and it offers a nice, slightly nostalgic way to arrive at the entrance rather than simply walking uphill.
Once inside, the park feels very well maintained and clean. The staff are consistently friendly, polite, and helpful, which adds a lot to the overall experience and reflects the strong service culture you find throughout Japan. Even small details, like cleanliness and organization, are clearly taken seriously here.
There is also a nice selection of amenities inside the park, including a Starbucks, which can be a welcome break spot if you need a short rest or a coffee during your visit.
However, one of the biggest downsides of the park is the ride operation speed. Unfortunately, dispatch and boarding times can be painfully slow at certain attractions, which leads to unnecessarily long queues even when the park does not feel overly crowded. This is a common issue in several Japanese amusement parks, but it is still frustrating for visitors, especially those used to faster operations in Europe or the US.
To mitigate this, some attractions offer paid express pass options, which can significantly improve your experience if you are willing to spend extra. Otherwise, you should be prepared for longer waiting times, particularly during peak hours or weekends.
Overall, Yomiuri Land is a pleasant and easy-to-reach park with a friendly atmosphere, good upkeep, and a few unique touches like the cable car entrance. However, operational efficiency—especially ride throughput—holds it back from being a truly top-tier amusement park experience.
The park is quite large, with various attractions, a varied and delicious food selection, and excellent service. There's ample parking and easy access. I recommend buying tickets in advance and arriving half an hour before the park opens. During the winter season, there's a light show that makes it magical at night.
Was able to secure 2 Town Passes for PokePark in Yomiuriland. If you’re main objective is to secure exclusive merch and try the exclusive food and drinks and the badge a town pass is worth it. Just have to arrive early at Yomiuriland and upon scanning your tickets secure your slots for the Daisuki Shop and Shows.
Yomiuriland itself was a great theme park with so many rides! A lot more rides and less lines than Disney. They even have bungee jumping!
Absolutely breathtaking park especially in Winter. Its extra charge for the ferris wheel but so worth it for the views. If you are coming by public transport theres cable cars from station to drop you off in park for extra charge.Station is Keio Yomiuri Land Station to Yomiuriland amusement park, offering scenic, elevated views of the area, especially during spring cherry blossoms and winter illuminations. It operates as a convenient, quick alternative to buses, with fares costing 300 JPY one-way or 500 JPY round-trip. Highly recommended.
