Place are so Amazing Flowers are Pretty Good Blooming🌸👏👏👏
We camp here every year!
It's 700 yen per tent per night, plus an 800 yen grass protection fee if you have a bonfire. It's an incredibly cheap 1,500 yen per night! There are restrooms and a management building, and a bath is just a short walk away. Thank you, Sakai City!
From cherry blossoms in the spring to playing in the river in the summer and fall, children and adults alike can enjoy this place throughout the year!
This time, we stayed from April 4th to 6th, and it coincided with the cherry blossom lighting ceremony, so we were able to see the beautiful illuminations! The cherry blossoms hadn't bloomed yet, though lol.
We camp here 5-6 times a year. Maybe we should get an annual pass. Thank you for your continued support! (`・ω・)ゞ
The site is entirely grassy, with no power outlets, no private vehicles, trash must be taken home, toilets available, no showers, reservations required, and fireworks prohibited.
Bathing is available at the adjacent hot spring accommodation (time restrictions apply).
This is a very clean and well-maintained campground, popular with visitors from outside the prefecture.
The area isn't too large, so toilets are nearby and reasonably clean. There are water sources throughout.
There's public playground equipment for children, and a river where they can splash around. The biotope with its walking trail is teeming with aquatic life.
As long as you don't venture into the mountains, most areas are within reach of adults.
On the mountainside, there's also Kaze no Mori Play Park, a separate facility run by a children's NPO.
Staff members are on hand to prevent nuisances and provide emergency call assistance, providing peace of mind.
The reservation system means the campground is no longer as casual as it once was. However, recent updates have been impressive, and I feel like the benefits have steadily increased. There are more young people among the staff.
(A few years ago, it was mostly older people, but they were friendly and nice, so I was happy with them.)
While opinions vary, I think it's very comfortable for families with small children or beginners who are just starting out.
Veteran campers and car campers may find it lacking (personal opinion).
The tents available for rental are Snow Peak Amenity Domes.
If you're new to this type of tent, you can watch the setup video beforehand to practice, and I highly recommend it for those considering purchasing one.
It costs 800 yen per tent and 800 yen per tarp, but you can sleep in your car for free. There's also a bath right in front of the building. It costs 500 yen per person and you can use it until 8pm on weekdays and 3pm on Saturdays. You can also enjoy a bonfire for 800 yen. There's a beer vending machine, so it's great for heavy drinkers. There's also an ice cream vending machine, so your kids might beg for some.
The best time to visit is from mid to late April when over 100 to 150 weeping cherry trees bloom spectacularly. During this period, the annual Takeda no Sato Weeping Cherry Blossom Festival takes place, featuring evening illuminations that create a magical nighttime display. The plaza is closed during the snowy season from December to March, so plan your visit accordingly. Summer is also popular for camping near the refreshing Takeda River.
Entry to Takekurabe Plaza itself is free, making it an accessible destination for all visitors. The plaza also provides free camping facilities surrounded by nature, allowing you to enjoy the cherry blossoms in spring or the riverside environment in summer without additional camping fees.
The plaza features landmark twin waterwheels measuring 8 meters and 5 meters in diameter, among the largest in the Hokuriku region. A chime hut, designed with input from local high school students, plays music every hour and half hour. The on-site Takedaya direct sales store offers seasonal mountain produce unique to the Takeda area. During cherry blossom season, weekend craft markets add to the festive atmosphere.
The plaza is located approximately 15 minutes by car from the Maruoka Interchange of the Hokuriku Expressway. From Fukui City center, the journey takes around 50 minutes by car. Takekurabe Plaza is just a 3-minute walk from Maruoka Onsen Takekurabe hot spring resort, making it convenient to combine your visit with a relaxing hot spring experience.
The plaza is closed on Tuesdays (or the following day if Tuesday is a holiday) and during the winter season from December to March. For inquiries, visitors can contact the plaza at 0776-67-3097. The Takeda area is a mountainous region covering approximately 5,000 hectares of forest, so come prepared for a rural mountain environment. If visiting during cherry blossom season, expect large crowds as the festival attracts around 70,000 visitors annually.
