Takenohama Beach is a beautiful and peaceful spot in Hyogo, perfect for a relaxing SUP session. I visited in June, just before peak season, and the beach was quiet with very few people. The water was incredibly clear and calm, making it ideal for paddleboarding, especially for beginners. Paddling here felt smooth and relaxing, with gentle waves and a wide open view of the sea. One of the best parts was the scenery — mountains and a small coastal village surrounding the beach, creating a very calm and refreshing atmosphere. It’s also easy to access by car, and there’s plenty of space to set up your gear. If you’re looking for a chill place to enjoy SUP or just unwind by the sea, Takenohama is definitely worth visiting.

One of the cleanest beaches I've ever visited in Japan. The beach can get quite crowded, so it's best to arrive earlier in the day. It is easier to find a spot (and parking). The water is crystal clear and calm - a perfect place to swim and snorkel. There's also a convenient hot springs located on the beach, so don't forget to bring a change of clothes to get clean before your drive home!

Great beach, well worth the trek from kinosaki onsen. We took the train there and then went to the visitor center across the street to call a taxi back, they were so nice and helpful. The beach itself is beautiful, we picked up lunch at a kombini on the way but there are little restaurants on the beach that could have been a good option. Would definitely recommend, was a highlight of our trip.

I visited here on late autumn as in laws live here. The quietness of the beach is the best with the gentle cold breeze blowing. This is a sight I can't easily experience in my tropical home country in the Philippines. There's a coffee shop walking distance away, a seaside hotel, souvenir shop and a shrine nearby. You can also walk around and find a Lawson and a small grocery store and a seafood shop named Burizen. It really is a very quiet town but I like it that way as contrast from where I am in Cebu, Philippines. Bonus points: If you speak decent Japanese, the locals are really a warm, friendly bunch. Reminds me of my own elderly neighbors i some way.

Calm waters. Good for kids. Clean and clear as well.
