An incredible structure with the sense of time travel. It’s worth the trip just to see this building but Maniwa has so many wonderful sites to see, you could enjoy a week here. I recommend going during the sakura blossom period. There are so many trees throughout the town but very few people😍
Beautifully preserved primary school with original floors, windows and master’s office. Exemplary main hall with incredible ceiling. Includes exhibition of architect’s other works.
This is a very historical primary school. It was built more than 100 years ago.
It seems to be pronounced "Kyusenkyo Jinjo Elementary School."
It's an important cultural property, an elementary school built during the Meiji period.
Despite being such a historically valuable and rare building... there were hardly any people there!
The interior is like a movie set (and it seems it has actually been used as a set in numerous films).
The beautiful exterior exudes a sense of history, the classrooms evoke the era... and there's a spacious auditorium in the center of the second floor—a rare design. It was well worth seeing!
And admission is free.
Yet, even though it was the middle of the day during Golden Week, there were hardly any people! (There's a donation box, so please consider making a small donation!)
Well, this is good in its own way, as you can focus on your fan activities and photography without worrying about being seen, haha.

I went on a weekday and couldn't see inside, but just seeing the exterior was enough. I spotted it on the way to a hot spring resort and stopped by on the way back. I took my time admiring the retro building and took a short break to stretch before continuing my drive. It's a great place for retro lovers to explore on a trip. I parked in the parking lot at the back. It was practically empty because it was a weekday, but I don't know what it's like on weekends.
