Tottori Airport, officially renamed Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport in 2018, serves as the primary gateway to Tottori Prefecture in western Japan. The airport was established in 1967 and underwent significant renovations in recent decades to accommodate growing tourism. The unique name reflects two of the region's most famous attractions: the nearby Tottori Sand Dunes and the beloved manga character Detective Conan, whose creator Gosho Aoyama hails from the neighboring town of Hokuei.

The airport's cultural significance extends beyond its Detective Conan theming, which includes character statues, themed decorations, and a dedicated museum section. It serves as the entry point to the Tottori Sand Dunes, Japan's largest sand dune system covering approximately 16 square kilometers. These dunes, formed over 100,000 years by sediment from the nearby Sendai River, represent one of Japan's most distinctive natural landscapes and hold special designation as a Natural Monument.

Visitors can explore the airport's Detective Conan exhibits, browse themed merchandise, and view character displays throughout the terminal. The airport features a rooftop observation deck offering views of the surrounding landscape and arriving aircraft. A small museum area showcases local culture and the manga heritage, while the terminal's design incorporates elements referencing both the sand dunes and the detective series.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) operates regular flights connecting Tottori to Tokyo Haneda Airport, with flight times of approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Airport buses provide direct service to Tottori Station in about 20 minutes for 460 yen, while connections to the Sand Dunes take approximately 25 minutes. Rental car services are available at the airport for independent exploration. Airport access is free, though parking fees apply for vehicles. The terminal facilities include basic dining options, souvenir shops, and free Wi-Fi throughout the building.
