Tove Jansson Akebono Children’s Forest Park, Hanno

Tove Jansson Akebono Children's Forest Park opened in July 1997 as a Heisei Commemorative Children's Forest Park in Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture. The park was created following correspondence with Tove Jansson, the renowned Finnish children's writer and creator of the beloved Moomin characters. Born in Helsinki in 1914, Jansson was a celebrated cartoonist, novelist, and children's writer who received numerous accolades including the Hans Christian Andersen Award. Her influence permeates the park's design, creating a space where the whimsical world of her stories comes to life.

The park holds cultural significance as a tribute to Jansson's literary legacy and the universal appeal of the Moomin universe. By car, the park is a 20-minute drive from the Sayama-Hidaka Interchange on the Ken-o-do Highway. Parking is available but limited, particularly during busy periods.
