What other travelers are saying about Tsugaike Nature Garden
What a stunning place to hike. Don't let the clouds and fog deter you, we started out not being able to see a thing on the cable car ride, but by the time we reached the hikes peak, we were rewarded with these amazing autumn views. The track was rocky, slippery and uneven - whiles it's a relatively easy hike, don't underestimate the level of fitness needed for the entire circuit to reach the advantage point to see the mountain views. Our date of hike 7 Oct, 2025.
The garden operates from early June to mid-October. Late June through early August offers peak alpine flower blooms, with Asian skunk cabbage and cotton grass appearing in late June to mid-July, followed by wildflowers through August. Late September to early October provides autumn foliage viewing. Operating dates vary annually based on snow conditions.
The 5.5-kilometer wooden boardwalk is flat and takes 90 minutes to 2 hours to complete. The trail is suitable for most fitness levels, though the 1,900-meter elevation may cause altitude effects for some visitors. The boardwalk eliminates uneven terrain.
No. The garden closes during winter due to heavy snowfall and operates only from early June through mid-October. The area becomes part of Tsugaike Kogen ski resort during winter months.
The combined lift ticket for the Tsugaike Panorama Lift and Tsugaike Nature Garden Lift costs approximately 3,400 yen for adults. This includes round-trip lift access and garden entry. Reduced rates are available for children and seniors.
Restrooms are located at the upper lift station and at the midpoint rest area. A small information center near the entrance provides maps and basic refreshments. No restaurants or shops operate within the garden, so visitors should bring water and snacks. Benches are positioned along the boardwalk at viewpoints.
If you need a break from the city and are seeking to heal your exhausted soul, you should visit here. You can wander around in the park located at 1,900 m/ 6233 ft. I went to this place in June with my family, and it was such a pretty place. Walking the whole park took me 3 hours, but there are some benches to eat lunch and rest. At the entrance of the park, there is a food court and restrooms. I definitely recommend that you wear hiking boots. Some stairs are rotten, so be careful. There was some snow left in June, and it was quite something. You need tickets for a gondola and the park. I don't think you need to buy tickets in advance. Also, it was still cold in June, so bring a warm jacket with you.
Visited this nature hiking place yesterday 4 Nov as it was still open. However the autumn foliage seems to be all gone however the park is still beautiful. It is a vast area and it will be good to cater enough time of at least 3-4 hours. It wasn’t very difficult to walk as the place largely lined with boardwalk. Pretty amazing!!!!
