While the Zakimi Castle Ruins sit on a relatively small area compared to other castles, they are beautifully well-maintained and rich in history. The highlight is the stunning, panoramic view of Yomitan village and the ocean from above.
It has a tranquil atmosphere, making it a wonderful place for quiet reflection or meditation. There is also a museum right beside the site, though I didn't have time to go inside. Recommend stopping by for the scenery and the peace!
The view from the top of the castle walls was simply stunning.
There was also a random rooster wandering around the grounds, which added a bit of unexpected character to the visit.
I stopped here during a motorcycle ride around Okinawa and it was well worth the detour.
One of the best and accessable castles on the island. Plus walking around the castle walls is free. If you need something to do on your day off and you love history, I'd spend some time here. And far as parking theres a couple of different places. One close to the museum and one on the back of the park.
Very well presented and preserved ruins. It is easy to walk or drive to, parking was easy. The short walk up the hill and you will then arrive for some very old historical walk down memory lane.
