Found out about the Glover Garden on Google Maps of course. Needed something to do on a beautiful sunny day, and this place did not disappoint. Instead of taking the escalators all the way up, we actually took the elevators and entered from Gate 2. I think that was a better option, so you work your way down. Beautiful views and good history to learn here. Worth stopping by.
We visited the garden in full Sakura bloom. The koi carp were very pretty and we purchased fish food for them there and it added to our experience. The sakura was particularly pleasing and we took many pictures. The garden was tranquil despite being slightly busy. We recommend this garden for anyone that wants to visit a beautiful garden with a spectacular view.
A very important place to know about the history and significance of Nagasaki in the modernisation of Japan. Also a very enjoyable walk in the beautiful garden and among all the houses that blend in both western and Japanese elements.
A must visit place in Nagasaki. Highly recommended.
An open air museum that worth to visit when you are in Nagasaki.
The main attraction of the garden is the Former Glover House, the oldest wooden Western-style building in Japan. Thomas Glover (1838-1911), a Scottish merchant who moved to Nagasaki after the opening of its port to foreign trade in 1859.
Tha garden has a nice views of the city and the harbor, including some of Nagasaki's important industrial sites.
Great Park. Good exhibits and beautiful gardens.
It was a great experience overall.
Side note: Thank you to the kind staff for resolving a drink vending machine issue. A vending machine near the upper part of the park had malfunctioned where payment was made (via IC card) but no drink was dispensed.
Appreciate the staff at the gift store phoning and resolving the issue and thereafter the manager(Takeichi-san) providing a sincere apology for the troubles and a return of my payment. Thank you again!
