What other travelers are saying about Owl Cafe Tokyo
I had been researching where would be the best unique animal experience we could have, and I kept coming back to this owl cafe. After discussing a lot we decided to book the VIP exclusive session and all of us were impressed and had the time of our lives at Akiba Fukurou Tokyo! We were able to feed the owl's, have them fly from our arms to their perches, gently pat them and have the owl's rest on our arm's/laps and on top of our heads! A few took a great liking to mine and my sister's hats in particular. It was breathtaking to experience meeting an owl close up and so many in one space. We all were blown away with how special and unique our time at Akiba Fukurou was and we all collectively agreed we would 100% come back in the future. It was simultaneously the most healing restful and yet exciting experience we had together as a group of four! My personal favourite owl was "Ramen" a 6 month old baby tawny owl at the time who was very hungry on the day and fell in love with my hat. My husband adored "Dragon", my sister's bf loved his time with "Wizard" and my sister fell in love with I think three or four of the owls who were so happily resting on her, "Pistachio" and "Charlie Brown" being two of the names I remember her mentioning.
The amount of care and dedication both of our Owl Concierge's had for the owl's, really shone through. Both Koyuki and Shu helped all four of us have a blast with our experience. They celebrated with us our joy at being with all of their amazing owl's, taught us how to feed them and interact/pat them, and just learning about their quirks and how some of the owl's had best friends, and you could just tell how much love this couple has for owl's of all kinds.
Thank you again Koyuki and Shu, our amazing Owl Concierge's!!! Our experience felt magical and definitely blew us away with how much fun we all had.
Yes, visitors are allowed to pet the owls under staff supervision. The staff will guide you on how to properly interact with the owls to ensure their comfort and safety.
It is recommended to make a reservation in advance, as the cafe can be quite popular, and there are limited spots available to ensure a calm environment for both the owls and visitors.
Yes, photography is encouraged, but visitors should avoid using flash to prevent disturbing the owls.
Yes, the owls are well cared for by trained staff who ensure that the birds' needs are met, including regular breaks from interaction with visitors.
The Owl Cafe in Tokyo Akihabara was so fun! The experience was very smooth and well organized. The Owl Concierge trainers were there to guide us each step of the way, to make sure both we and the owls were safe. The taught us how to hold out our arms/shoulders to receive the owls and how to interact with them to make them feel safe. They had a guidebook with interesting owl facts to read while enjoying time with our owls. And there were so many owls to choose from to hold - big or small, whatever fits the guests comfort level. We even received a photo card souvenir at the end. Would 10/10 recommend!
This was an absolutely brilliant experience. A very calm and tranquil environment in which to meet some beautiful creatures. It was all conducted very responsibly and very ethically. The owls seemed very well looked after and respected. Great care was taken to give owls rest time when they need it. We booked a private slot and it was excellent value. Before coming to Japan, I was a little nervous of the animal cafe trend, but I was suitably reassured by this establishment and the care they take to look after the wellbeing of their owls as well as delivering an excellent customer service experience. Highly recommended.
One of the best experiences I had in all of Japan, seriously. I thought this owl cafe would be similar to other animal cafes where they cram a lot of people in, you walk around and see animals and sometimes get to touch them. But this isn’t just that, it’s so much more intimate. Upon arrival, the amazing hosts and owners assign you an owl that becomes your best friend and sits with you for the whole time. There are over 50 owls each with their own personality! They are calm and very friendly. It was such an amazing experience being so close to these beautiful creatures.
Another aspect that’s amazing are the hosts. They are kind, friendly, very creative and fun, and you can tell they love and treat their owls very well. This is 100% not an experience where the animals are taken advantage of.
You will also have some professional photos taken, and printed out for feee as a souvenir and the whole experience doesn’t feel rushed. I loved every minute of this experience and highly highly recommend everyone try it out.
An owl cafe sounded like a unique experience, so I went ahead and reserved some spots for three people. We got our confirmation via email and it advised us to arrive 10 minutes early. On the day off, we got there early to check-in. There were some stools available at the front to sit down. There was also a photo wall of all the owls and a guidebook that went further in depth. As we got inside, we just needed to give our name and put our stuff on the shelf area. Once it was time, the staff gave us an introduction of best practices for the visit. There’s plenty of seating and you aren’t assigned to a specific section.
Throughout the visit, we were able to pet owls, take a group photo, and also sit down to hang out with an owl as well. For my group, we had the pleasure of hanging out with “The Last Samurai” and “Okra.” My owl stayed on my shoulder almost the entire time. My friend’s owl moved from the shoulder and eventually went on his head! As it became close to leaving time, the staff helped move the owls off of us and gave sanitizers. The photo that we took at the beginning was also printed out and given to each of us. It was a good quality photo and makes a great souvenir! I absolutely loved the experience and attentiveness of the staff. I highly recommend this store!
