What happens during the tea ceremony?

Your instructor welcomes you and introduces the history of the tea ceremony, performs the ceremony for you, serves a traditional sweet, and then guides you as you whisk your own matcha.

Is the experience shared with other guests?

No. It is a private session for your group only, held in a traditional house surrounded by Japanese gardens.

Where is the teahouse?

Camellia Flower is in Higashiyama, about a minute's walk from Ninenzaka slope and the main gate of Kiyomizu-dera, so it is easy to combine with sightseeing in the area.

Can I ask questions during the session?

Yes. Your instructor encourages questions about the ceremony, its traditions, and Japanese culture throughout the experience.
