What can I see from the summit of Mount Muroran?

You look over the industrial city of Muroran and out across the Pacific Ocean. On a clear day, Mount Yotei is visible in the distance, and its shape is often compared to Mount Fuji.

Why is it called a loop hike?

You climb to the summit on one route and come down by another, finishing back at the car park where you started. That way you get fresh views of Muroran on the descent instead of retracing your steps.

How do I get to the trailhead?

A free shuttle bus runs from adex base in Noboribetsu Onsen to the trailhead, and it brings you back to adex base after the hike.

Is there a rest stop during the hike?

Yes. You take a break of about 30 minutes at the summit before starting the descent, which is a good time for a snack and photos.
