At the Shiporyuji Temple, you will participate in the Goma ceremony, a vital aspect of Shugen-do mountain asceticism. Very Memorable Experience
We were extremely fortunate to have both Ryusuke and Yuko as our guides on the Mt. Inunaki Trekking and Goma Prayer Experience in Osaka Tour. They were extremely knowledgeable, pointing out and explaining things we would have just walked by had we been on our own. They also answered all our questions we had accumulated about Japan, customs, shrines, and temples etc, prior to going on the tour, so thank you very much for that! For the trail itself, bring bug spray and water/food. We both wore sneakers and were fine. The path is uneven and mostly an incline, but not much different than other shrines/temples we visited previously. The fire ceremony was a very unique experience, it was nice to talk to a monk and see a ritual in person, very memorable. The hot springs offer a lovely view of the local forest and a great way to relax at the end. Everything is provided at the hot springs including towels. Make sure to have ice cream in the lobby after to cool down, those spring are truly hot. We did the tour on a thurs and it was pretty quiet, only a few other people around. Highly recommend! Great guides! Thank you Ryusuke and Yuko for such a memorable experice in your beautiful country!
