Do I need any flower arranging experience?

No. Your instructor guides you step by step through the basics, from how to treat the flowers to where each stem goes, so the session suits complete beginners.

How is Ikebana different from Western flower arranging?

Ikebana favors minimalism and asymmetry, and it treats the flowers, the container, and the surrounding space as one composition, rather than filling a vase with as many blooms as possible.

Can I choose my own flowers?

Yes. You visit a local Yanaka flower shop during the session and pick up to three seasonal flowers and branches to work with.

How is the session structured?

It opens with a 10-minute introduction to Ikebana's history, principles, and tools, followed by 10 minutes choosing flowers and 60 minutes of hands-on practice, ending with a photo of your finished arrangement.

Can this workshop be arranged for a larger group?

Yes. Group sessions can be arranged for up to 18 people, which suits school trips, seminars, sightseeing groups, and business gatherings.

Fantastic Ikebana experience! Can’t recommend enough!

Amazing experience start to finish! My favorite activity of the trip. Fujisan was so knowledgeable and passionate. I am ready to enroll in Ikebana school.

Excellent

I had a wonderful experience. I learned so much, and created a beautiful flower arrangement (surprising myself, but with a lot of assistance). The Ikebana artist was so kind and knowledgeable as was the translator. Highly recommend!
