Japan has around 1,800 types of moss, nearly a tenth of the world's varieties, and moss holds a cherished place in Japanese culture. Your host helps you spot the different kinds carpeting the garden.

Where does the tea ceremony take place?

In fine weather you can take your matcha in the moss garden itself; otherwise it is served in the tatami room.
