Joetsu Cycling Tour: Takada Castle Town & Local Sweets Experience

Meet-up at Container Arcade “Furusatto,” in front of Joetsu-Myoko Station West Exit. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before departure.

Begin the cycling tour and explore Joetsu’s scenic routes while enjoying the fresh air on comfortable electric-assisted city bicycles.

Visit several local shops along the cycling route, starting with Kotake Seika where you can taste freshly made sandwich bread. Continue to Ameya to enjoy traditional Japanese candies with a long history, and then stop at Mochiya to sample baked dango, a classic Japanese sweet.

Take a relaxing break at Taga Tea Roastery, where you can enjoy freshly brewed tea paired with traditional Japanese confectionery.

Continue sightseeing in Takada, starting with a visit to the Former Division Commander’s Official Residence, followed by Mochiya where you can try baked dango. Next, explore the Takada Castle Three-Story Turret and learn about the area’s history, before visiting Takada Komachi Town Museum to discover more about local culture and heritage.

The tour concludes at Takada Station, part of the Echigo Tokimeki Railway network. Participants are free to continue their onward journey from here.
