Matcha Incense Making Experience in Uji, Kyoto

• Minimum participant age is 6 years.

• Sessions are available on Saturdays and Sundays only at 10:30 and 13:30.

• Groups are limited to 2 to 4 participants per session.

• An incense burner is not included and must be sourced separately to use the finished incense at home.

• Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the session start time.

• The voucher is valid only for the participation date specified at booking.

• Bookings are available within 3 months of the intended participation date.

Workshop Agenda

Introduction to Japanese Incense 

An overview of Japanese incense, its history, and its cultural significance. 

• Duration: Approximately 10 minutes

Introduction to Matcha Incense 

An explanation of how matcha incense is made, the properties of Uji matcha used in the process, and the upcycling concept behind the experience. 

• Duration: Approximately 10 minutes

Hands-On Matcha Incense Making 

Participants press the matcha incense mixture into traditional wagashi wooden molds to create 6 to 7 finished pieces. Each piece is shaped to resemble traditional Japanese confectionery. Participants take all finished pieces home.
