Yes, the tour's teacher has taken a course on Japanese embroidery at Joshibi University of Art and Design and has a background in design. The teacher's mother was a kimono teacher, and her teacher's passion for creating an easy-to-wear kimono and obi stems from their personal struggle with the traditional process of wearing a kimono. Additionally, the teacher works with acquaintances to collect disused kimonos, and their purchases help raise wages at facilities for the disabled.

We had a wonderful experience with very friendly staff and good English. For men, one piece is included in the price (yukata or haori) and the second is a surplus of 2000¥. The staff chooses kanji that match your name and gives you the meaning of each. They also make a family crest as central pieces. It just has to stick the symbols on the kimono and there it is!

Kimono making
We had a very nice experience, the staff is very welcoming and helps you through the choice of kimono or yukata as well as the manufacturing part. It's super simple to do since you glue the kimono with thermal tape. For men you will be able to stick your initials on a jacket or kimono. I recommend this experience to anyone with an interest in kimonos. Note that depending on the quality of your kimono it is possible to have additional charges between $20-60. Then the obi (belt) are also a surplus.
