Sapporo 1-Day Tour: Ainu Culture & Jozankei Walking Tour

Meet your guide in front of the Myomu circular white stone structure near the South Exit of JR Sapporo Station. After exiting the main JR gates, turn left and walk toward the South Exits — the stone structure will be visible ahead. Your guide will be wearing a Snow Monkey Resorts tour tag.

Arrive at the Ainu Cultural Center and begin a guided tour of the exhibition room. The museum covers the lifestyle, history, and art of the Ainu people, the indigenous group who first settled Hokkaido. Visitors are encouraged to handle and examine over 300 authentic Ainu craftworks. The outdoor area includes traditional Ainu-style houses and wooden canoes.

Travel by bus approximately 1 hour to Jozankei, the largest hot spring town in Hokkaido, located within Shikotsu-Toya National Park. On arrival, guests have time for lunch before the guided walk begins. Miso ramen is a local specialty — your guide will suggest options on request. Lunch is not included in the tour price.

Begin the guided walking tour of Jozankei village. Stops include Jozankei Shrine and Temple, Gesen Park with the public foot bath, Futami Park, and the Futami Tsuribashi Suspension Bridge spanning the Toyohira River.

Enjoy a 2-hour traditional Japanese hot spring bath at Hotel Shika no Yu. Your guide will explain onsen etiquette and the rules that apply before guests enter. Men's and women's baths are separate.

Arrive back at Sapporo Station, where the tour concludes.
