高山的城山公园在城市历史中占有重要地位。这里是高山城的旧址，该城由金森长近公于16世纪末建造。虽然城堡在明治维新期间被拆毁，但公园保留了石砌地基和护城河，让人得以一窥封建时代的风貌。

城山公园占地约24公顷，园内有超过1000株樱花树。每逢春季，公园便化身为热门的赏花胜地，吸引当地居民和游客前来。除了樱花外，公园浓密的森林步道两旁还种满杉树和枫树，夏季时成为避暑的绝佳去处。

公园内隐藏着多处历史纪念物，包括纪念诗人高滨虚子的碑文，以及一座献给当地民间英雄的石灯笼。公园也是通往光纪念馆及附近高山阵屋的入口，后者是一座保存完好的江户时代政府建筑。
