Joetsu City is known for its historical significance as the home of the famous samurai Uesugi Kenshin, as well as for its scenic beauty, including the Takada Castle and Park, which is famous for cherry blossoms and lotus flowers.

Takada Castle Park is one of Japan’s top cherry blossom viewing spots. It’s especially famous for its nighttime illuminations during the cherry blossom season in early April. The park also features beautiful lotus flowers in summer, attracting visitors from all over the country.

Joetsu City is accessible by the Hokuriku Shinkansen, with the nearest station being Joetsumyoko Station. The city is also connected by local trains and buses. By car, Joetsu is easily reachable via the Kan-Etsu and Hokuriku Expressways.

The Joetsu Aquarium, also known as Umigatari, is a modern aquarium located on the coast of Joetsu City. It features marine life from the Sea of Japan and interactive exhibits, including dolphin shows, making it a popular destination for families.
