The Seto Ohashi Bridge opened in spring 1988, connecting Honshu and Shikoku by land across the islands. This 13-kilometer engineering wonder consists of 10 connected two-tiered bridges with an upper deck for cars and lower deck for trains, making Sakaide a major transportation hub.

The Seto Ohashi Tower offers a 360-degree rotating view of the bridge, Sakaide and the Seto Inland Sea for approximately $7. During the 10-minute aerial walk, visitors can capture the blue sea below and the Seto Ohashi Bridge.

Sakaide is famous for Sanuki Udon noodles, the signature dish of Kagawa Prefecture. The city offers numerous dining spots and restaurants serving this local specialty alongside other regional cuisine.

The scenery of green islands dotting the blue sea combined with the huge bridge creates beautiful views of the many islands of the Seto Inland Sea. The quiet, easily walkable area around Shamijima features a small fishing village, offering authentic coastal experiences alongside modern engineering marvels.
