    Preguntas frecuentes

Tochigi is a prefecture located in the Kanto region of Japan, north of Tokyo. It is a landlocked area, known for its natural beauty, historic sites, and hot springs. Tochigi City itself is a historical town within the prefecture.

Tochigi is famous for its UNESCO World Heritage site, the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, as well as for hot springs, such as Kinugawa Onsen. The prefecture is also known for its strawberry production and scenic landscapes, including the beautiful Lake Chuzenji and Kegon Falls.

Tochigi can be accessed by train from Tokyo. The Tohoku Shinkansen connects Tokyo to Utsunomiya, Tochigi’s capital, in about 50 minutes. The JR and Tobu railways also provide convenient access to other cities within the prefecture.

Tochigi offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, especially in the Nikko National Park area, boating on Lake Chuzenji, and visiting waterfalls such as Kegon Falls. There are also cycling routes and skiing areas in the winter months.

Tochigi is famous for its strawberries, particularly the "Tochiotome" variety, which are considered some of the best in Japan. Other local foods include gyoza (dumplings) from Utsunomiya and yuba (tofu skin) dishes, especially in the Nikko area.
