Air Park COO Paraglider School is located in Ishioka City, Ibaraki Prefecture, at the eastern foothills of Mount Tsukuba. The region around Ishioka has established itself as one of Japan's premier sky sports destinations, hosting the Paragliding World Cup Ibaraki 2007 in April of that year. The area features four main launch sites at Mount Ashio, Mount Wagakuni, Mount Manaka, and Mount Minedera, each offering optimal wind conditions and gentle slopes ideal for paragliding. The school benefits from a takeoff elevation of approximately 521 meters, providing stunning views across the Kanto Plain.

The school operates from its address at 1698-1 Uwaso, Ishioka City, Ibaraki 315-0157. Established as a certified school under the Japan Paragliding Association (JPA), Air Park COO has built its reputation on experienced instructors and comprehensive training programs. The facility maintains multiple dedicated paragliding fields that allow operations in various weather conditions and wind directions, ensuring year-round accessibility for both beginners and advanced pilots.

Visitors can choose from several experience options. The half-day course allows newcomers to practice on gentle slopes and experience the sensation of floating 1 to 3 meters above ground during a 2-hour session priced at ¥6,000, which includes instruction, insurance, and equipment rental. For those seeking immediate airborne adventure, the tandem flight experience pairs participants with certified instructors for flights from 500-meter elevation mountains, offering 10 to 15 minutes of aerial views. This tandem option costs ¥15,000 and requires participants to be elementary school age or older with body weights between 30 and 90 kilograms. Full-day courses and multi-day licensing programs are available for those pursuing serious training.

The facility features a clubhouse, changing rooms, and rest areas where participants can review their flight photographs, available for free download. Visitors should bring athletic clothing, sneakers, sunglasses, sunscreen, beverages, and insurance card copies. The school's proximity to Mount Tsukuba and the surrounding Yatabe region makes it an excellent addition to broader sightseeing itineraries that might include Tsukuba's scientific facilities or the historic Kairakuen Garden in nearby Mito.

The school's location provides convenient access from Tokyo, situated approximately one hour by car via the Joban Expressway. By public transport, visitors can take the JR Joban Line to Ishioka Station, then board the Kanto Railway Green Bus bound for Kakioka Depot via the Hayashi route. Upon arrival at Kakioka, the school provides complimentary pickup service when contacted in advance at 0299-44-1408. Alternative pickup from Tsukuba Station can be arranged with advance reservation made by 5:00 PM the previous day.

This is a flight area with a paragliding school. It boasts some of the best facilities, staff, and training systems in Japan, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. Furthermore, it's a fantastic area with a high probability of successful flights and a wide airspace.
It's so much fun!!! The regulars were a little loud on the way there, but... The fun outweighed that!
I'm so glad I discovered that there's a place in Ibaraki where you can go paragliding.
My first flight was amazing 😊 Thanks to the instructor's thorough explanation, I was able to fly easily even though I have no athletic ability.
