A tiny gallery with perfectly curated exhibitions.
I visited Akio Nagasawa Gallery Aoyama, located just off Antique Street at the intersection of Minami-Aoyama 5-Chome.
September 21st is World Alzheimer's Day, a day to raise awareness about dementia. It's also designated World Alzheimer's Month, meaning there are many articles about dementia in the newspapers.
I visited the gallery in Minami-Aoyama after reading about the "Final Exhibition" of Yoshikazu Ebisu, a manga artist and TV personality who has publicly announced that he has dementia.
I've read works such as the film "Orange Lamp" and Sawako Agawa's novel "Kotokoto Koko," and I believe that a full understanding of dementia is necessary in an aging society.
The gallery is bustling with visitors, with a steady stream of visitors. I attribute this to Ebisu's popularity and the high level of interest in dementia. It reminded me of the importance of deepening my knowledge of dementia.
The gallery is located on the second floor of a building facing a dead-end alley, accessible from Omotesando Station after passing the Ohara School Hall. It's a place you might not pass by unless you know about it, but it's quiet and you can take your time to appreciate the art. The quality of the exhibits is also high.
