What other travelers are saying about Canoe Shimanto Base
Visited in November 2025
There's a pebbled parking lot next to the shop.
When I arrived, a woman greeted me.
I thought it might be cold in November, but they were able to rent waterproof tops and bottoms and chloroprene socks, so it wasn't a problem at all.
The changing rooms are separated by gender, and each has a convenient locker with a lock.
They really care about their customers, and I felt like they really cared about their needs.
The kayak riding and paddling instructions were thorough, and my friend, who was kayaking for the first time, seemed at ease.
The swollen Shimanto River was incredibly fast-flowing, making for an exhilarating and enjoyable ride.
Our guide really knew how to entertain us, helping us lie down in the kayak, weaving through boulders, taking photos in the rapids, and even landing on a sunken bridge for commemorative photos.
The icing on the cake was the gift of a photo of us canoeing.
When I got home and checked the online album, I saw that they had taken over 100 photos of us together.
I would especially recommend this place for women and families with children.
I will definitely use Shimanto Base again when I visit the Shimanto River.
Thank you very much.
I wonder how many years ago it was that I first picked up a book by Tomoyuki Noda...
Ever since reading it nearly 40 years ago, the Shimanto River has been a place I've longed to visit.
My long-held dream of canoeing on the Shimanto River has finally come true.
Thanks to the friendly atmosphere and thorough explanations, I was able to start without any worries.
I was able to experience the magnificent scenery and various natural features, including tiny fish, large carp, crabs in cages, various birds, and footprints in the sand.
We also passed through three easy rapids along the way, so I really got into the feeling of going down the river.
When I lay down in the canoe, I felt like Tomoyuki Noda, and I was so satisfied! 🎵
They took so many photos that I wondered when they'd taken them all, and they digitized them immediately after we finished.
Next time, I'd like to come back in the summer and enjoy swimming and diving.
Enjoy canoeing on a small-group introductory course!
Thanks to the gentle guidance of female instructor Yukari, even first-timers were able to enjoy Shimanto canoeing without any worries.
A 3.5km river trip. Along the way, we jumped into the river, lay in the canoe, and felt the extraordinary negative ions.
On the way back, we were kindly shown around the submerged bridge and given photo data.
Thank you for your kindness.
It was a wonderful memory.
The cost was a reasonable 5,500 yen.
Apparently, the office was DIY-built.
What impressive skills!
On the way back, we stopped for a meal and some shopping at the nearby roadside station, "Yorite Nishitosa."
The grilled sweetfish was grilled and cooled, so the flavor was a bit off.
I highly recommend canoeing.
It was amazing✨The instructor was very kind and patient with me, and even though it was my first time canoeing, it was the best experience😆~
Fantastic🤩
