The artwork is by Yayoi Kusama, the renowned Japanese artist whose creations are bold, unique, and beautifully expressive. If you have the chance to visit Yufuin, this museum is something you truly shouldn’t miss.
It’s conveniently located right in the middle of the shopping area, making it easy and enjoyable
A beautifully designed museum where architecture and art feel inseparable.
The building integrates seamlessly with the surrounding nature. The concrete structure, filtered light, and framed views of the landscape create a quiet and reflective atmosphere.
It’s not a large museum, but that’s part of its strength. The experience feels focused and intentional rather than overwhelming.
A memorable place to slow down and experience art within nature.
Gorgeous cosy gallery.
There a six sections - with global and more local artists displayed.
No photos in the Kusama rooms, makes for a very intimate and focused experience.
There's a Nara sculpture on the rooftop with the cafe.
Overall, it's about a one hour (max) experience.
Tickets need to be purchased in advance tho, no walk ins.

Amazing quality loved the kusama exhibit the way it’s set up is masterful otherworldly and so unique to the location and design of the building- I’ve seen her work elsewhere but the way it’s displayed here take is to the next level. Architecture is astounding even for a novice like me. Such a happy surprise to find such a quality museum here.
