The Kinrin lake in Yufuin at the very early morning provides a unusual scenery. This, because the many hot springs caused by its vulcanic history increase the small lake temperature. The evaporation creates a cloud type mystical effect that can only be created during the early morning hour.
Kinrin Lake is a serene and picturesque landmark located at the foot of Mount Yufu in Yufuin. This unique lake is famous for its natural hot springs and fresh water springs that rise from its bed, creating a mystical morning mist during the colder months.
A leisurely stroll along the well-maintained lakeside path offers stunning seasonal views, especially the vibrant red maples in autumn. The surrounding area is dotted with charming cafes, small shrines, and museums, making it the perfect spot for relaxation. Whether you visit at dawn to see the fog or at sunset to admire the reflections, Kinrin Lake is a must-see natural wonder in Oita!
Magical. Got here at around 07.15 and the scenery is so mindblowing. Mystical and serene because there were not many people there, the ambiance in the afternoon is very different because of the crowd
The lake is within walkable distance from the yufuin floral village and many other shops. Coupled with the view of the mountains, you can easily spend half a day in this area.
The lake itself isn’t particularly special though. It might be because I went during late spring / early summer. So the view wasn’t too spectacular.
It’s an easy and pleasant walk from the Floral Village and other attractions. I loved how clear the water was and how healthy the fish and turtles looked. We visited early in the morning, so it was quiet and peaceful, which made the experience even more beautiful. The sounds of the cicadas were a lovely touch, creating a perfect, serene atmosphere.
