Diamond and Flower Ferris Wheel

4.3 (2066)Ferris WheelTourist AttractionPoint Of InterestEstablishment

The Diamond and Flower Ferris Wheel opened in spring 2001 in Kasai Rinkai Park, a waterfront park in Edogawa, Tokyo. Upon completion, it held the title of the world's second tallest Ferris wheel. It became the tallest Ferris wheel in Japan until the Sky Dream Fukuoka surpassed it in 2002. When that wheel closed in 2009, the Diamond and Flower Ferris Wheel reclaimed its position as Japan's tallest operational Ferris wheel.

Standing 117 meters tall with a wheel diameter of 111 meters, the attraction takes its distinctive name from its nighttime illuminations that create the appearance of sparkling diamonds or flowers. The wheel features 68 passenger cars, each accommodating up to 6 people, and completes one full rotation in 17 minutes. The air-conditioned gondolas provide spacious seating, and passengers are never seated with strangers, ensuring privacy for families and couples.

From the top, visitors can view landmarks including the Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Sky Tree, Tokyo Gate Bridge, and Tokyo Bay. On clear days, sightlines extend to Mount Fuji, the Boso Peninsula, Tokyo Disneyland, and the Aqua-Line's Umihotaru. The unobstructed location allows for 360-degree panoramic views of the metropolitan area, the Keiyo Industrial Zone, and the park's aviary and aquarium below. The nightly illumination transforms the wheel into a landmark visible across Tokyo Bay.

Kasai Rinkai Park, where the Ferris wheel is located, ranks as Tokyo's second-largest public park and features the Tokyo Sea Life Park, a bird sanctuary, beachfront access, and various gardens. The park reaches convenient access via the JR Keiyo Line to Kasai Rinkai Koen Station, which stops directly at the park entrance from Tokyo Station. The Tokyo Water Bus also serves the park with connections to Asakusa and Odaiba.

General admission costs 800 yen for visitors aged 3 and above, with discounted rates of 720 yen for groups of 20 or more, 400 yen for seniors 70 and older, and 350 yen for visitors with disabilities. A 10% discount applies when presenting a ticket from the Tokyo Sea Life Park aquarium. Children under 3 years old ride free, and pets are not permitted on board.

Went in the evening right after sunset. The views from the Ferris Wheel are pretty amazing. You can see Disney Land all lit up and also the Tokyo city skyline with all the buildings and their lights. It's a 17-minuye ride. You enter while it's moving but it will stop for elderly and disabled to enter/exit. Was a great experience and I recommend it for anyone who has the opportunity to check it out. 💯
