What other travelers are saying about Fukuoka Municipal Zoo and Botanical Garden

Fukuoka City Zoological Garden has become even more enjoyable after its recent renovations, with creative and modern ways of presenting the animals. The exhibits are designed to feel more natural, making it fun to walk around and observe the animals up close. The park has many slopes and stairs, so it can be a bit tiring, but taking your time and walking at a relaxed pace makes the visit much more enjoyable. Wearing comfortable shoes is highly recommended. The restaurant inside the park gets very crowded, so it’s best to have your meals before or after your visit. Overall, it’s a well-updated and rewarding place to spend a leisurely day, especially if you enjoy both animals and nature.

A great place to visit with kids! It’s huge, with some hilly areas, but the lifts are well located, so it’s easy to get around with a stroller. You can see the animals up close, which is amazing. There’s also a rose botanical garden next to it, but it was under construction when I visited (Nov 25). The toilets and nursing room were very clean and well maintained. The information staff was incredibly kind and helpful. I left my bag somewhere, and she did their absolute best to help me find it — thanks to her, I got it back! 🙏🏻🙏🏻😍❤️

Amazing! It is extremely worth it for the entry fee of 600 yen. There is a variety of animals to see. Recommended to go during cooler weather as most of the zoo is unsheltered and sits on a hill. Add this to your itinerary if you’re unsure of what to do in Fukuoka! PS. as other reviews have mentioned, some of the animals do look quite lonely in the enclosures 😢

The entry fee is ridiculously cheap. We went on a Thursday morning and it was pretty quiet, which was great. 🍝🌮The restaurant served surprisingly good food ,way better than expected We couldn’t finish the whole route around the zoo and only managed to see about a quarter of the animals because it was just way too hot outside 😢😭absolutely scorching, we couldn’t handle it 😭😭😭. Would definitely recommend coming on a cooler day or when the weather’s nicer! July.2025

The entry fee is 600yen. They have the zoo and botanical garden, both is fun and I especially liked that they have plenty of access to clean toilet everywhere. It was hot when I went there so most of the animals are taking nap, I probably will go for second time in fall because they have the area specific for autumn plants. For meal, the restaurant by the entry is about 1500yen per dish and the one by botanical garden is like 1000yen on average. The closing hour 4:30, it's better if you go in the early morning if you want to take your time to enjoy the whole park. Def recommended :)
