What other travelers are saying about Gokayama Gassho no Sato
Cool place to go see building architecture similar to the nearby Shirakawa-go buildings. There were no other people here when we visited during the evening of a public holiday so it felt a bit like a haunted ghost town in the rain. It is nice how accessible it is, but be wary of the narrow road down.
Gokayama Gassho no Sato is a preservation site featuring thirteen relocated gassho-zukuri houses moved from the surrounding region. Located five minutes walk from Suganuma Village, it offers day visits and overnight accommodation in traditional farmhouses. Unlike the World Heritage villages where residents still live, this site functions as an accommodation facility and educational venue.

Beautiful and peaceful village, not very crowded as tourists usually take day trip to Shiragawa-go. You can take Kaetsuno bus and hop off at Gomayama village or Suganuma and walk to Gomayama via the tunnel. Almost no visitors when we were there so we have had a quiet and amazing time.
One of the Gassho-zukuri villages that is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Sights. It's not as big as Shirakawa-go but it's also not as crowded as the more famous village. Also has a vantage point you can easily climb up to see a panoramic view of the entire village. Best to come in the morning and by rental car as it'll allow you to stop whenever you want on the way to the village, and you'll want to do that as the drive up is spectacular!
Assalamualaikum brother, we came to this place on Januari 2023. This place has several traditional houses. It has good scenery but when we came to this place it was very silent. There were almost no visitor here, so it looked like not maintained well.
The place is actually very interesting to visit, a little bit isolated tho. Means that if you come by bus, consider no more than 1 hour of visit. Better to come by car.
