Jishu Shrine, located within Kyoto’s iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple, is a delightful destination dedicated to love and matchmaking. This shrine honors Ōkuninushi, the deity of love and good relationships, making it a magnet for couples and singles alike.

One of the shrine’s most famous attractions is the pair of love stones set 18 meters apart. The challenge is to walk from one stone to the other with your eyes closed. Successfully doing so is said to bring you luck in finding true love. It's a fun and hopeful activity that draws many visitors eager to test their romantic fortune.

The shrine is also adorned with ema, wooden plaques where visitors write their wishes for love. These plaques, hanging all around, create a colorful and touching display of hopes and dreams. The shrine offers various love charms and talismans, believed to help with romantic endeavors and relationships.

Set amidst the scenic beauty of Kiyomizu-dera and its surrounding greenery, Jishu Shrine is a peaceful and inspiring place. It’s not just about seeking love but also about enjoying a charming and culturally rich experience in one of Kyoto’s most beloved spots.

Amazing place to appreciate Japanese heritage. I was surprised to see that every detail is made handmade on the shrines, they really manage to do an excellent job.

Love is all! The Jishu Jinja is a shrine dedicated to the kami (deity) of love and matchmaking. Anyone looking for happiness in love must walk the 18 meters between the two "love stones" with closed eyes (usually to the great hilarity of friends).
Jishu Shrine is a shinto shrine inside Kyomizu temple. It's the shrine that represents love, you can buy okimujis that tell if you'll have a good luck in finding your soul mate in that year. You can find a lot of rabbits decorating the place, because a rabbit was the assistant if the god of love.

Jishu shrine is a beautiful shrine, where you can try your luck at a blindfolded walk between two rocks. If you succeed, legend has it you'll find everlasting love, stewarded by Okuninushi-no-mikoto!
