What other travelers are saying about Kobe Oji Zoo
For a public zoo, they put quite a bit of effort into exhibits and ease of showing. The number of restrooms and nursing rooms, as well as a large area to have lunch, kept us happy.
Because it was a holiday we had to wait in line for about 30 minutes before we could enter. As an improvement, either an additional ticket booth should be built or a system for pre-purchase of tickets should be introduced (preferably the latter).
In the circular fierce animal exhibit area, the glass surface in the area where the animals are located was difficult to see inside due to the reflection of sunlight, which is a structural problem. Other visitors had similar complaints.
It’s an old zoo but it’s still very fun to go to. Sadly the panda has already passed away when we visited. The zoo is large though and has lots of animals for you and your family to see.
Parking is large and getting here via transportation aint that hard.
The Panda was not there :( it passed away. Yet, great way to entertain the kids, wish the animals had more space to walk around, a few of them looked stressed.
Scam! No Panda. They keep saying it's one of the zoo with a giant Panda, but they do not say that the Panda is dead. He dies in March 2024. If you think to visit for the Panda, do not waste your time. Other than that, it's just a farm more than a zoo. On the other hand, it's only 600 yen and free for kids, so at the end you get what you paid.
Quiet day to view with beautiful Sakura Trees everywhere. Went on a Monday morning, most animals were napping at that time. Found out Tan tan (panda) passed away from heart disease March 31st 2024.
Lots of empty stalls.
Lots of memorial plaques commemorating animals that passed away.
Most cats are not on display due to potential Covid exposure.
No Gorillas or otters for multiple reasons.
The facility was very clean and had plenty of bathrooms, seating areas, and vending machines.
